Privacy Notice
Thank you for joining our world’s largest online veterinary learning program. At Vets Pharma (“Vets Pharma,” “we,” “us”), we respect your privacy and want you to understand how we collect, use, and share your data. This privacy notice addresses our data collection practices and describes your rights to access, correct, or restrict our use of your personal data.
Unless we link to a different policy or indicate otherwise, this privacy notice applies when you visit or use Vets Pharma’s website, mobile applications, APIs, or related services (the “Services”).
By using the Services, you agree to the terms of this privacy notice. You should not use the Services if you do not agree to this privacy notice or any other agreement that governs your use of the Services.
1. What data do we obtain?
We collect certain data directly from you, such as information you enter yourself and information about your participation in courses. We also collect some data automatically, such as information about your device and the parts of our Services you interact with or spend time using.
1.1 Data that the user provides us
We may collect different data from or about you depending on how you use the Services. Below are some examples to help you better understand the data we collect.
When you create an account and use the Services, including through a third-party platform, we collect data that you provide directly to us, including:
Account Data: To use some features (such as enrolling in a course), you must create a user account. When you create or update your user account, we collect and store the data you provide, such as your email address, password, phone number, occupation, skill interests, gender, race, ethnicity, age, date of birth, and account settings, and assign you a unique identification number (“Account Data”).
Profile Data: You may also choose to provide profile information, such as a photo, title, biography, language, website link, social media profiles, or other information. Your Profile Data will be publicly visible to other users.
Shared Content: Some parts of the Services allow you to interact with other users or share content publicly, for example, by posting reviews on a course page, asking or answering questions, messaging students or instructors, or posting photographs or other work you upload. Such shared content may be publicly visible to other users depending on where it is posted.
Course Data: When you enroll in and take courses, we collect certain data, such as the courses, assignments, and exams you have started and completed; course credits and purchases; subscriptions; course certificates; user exchanges with instructors, teaching assistants, and other students; and assignments, answers to questions, and other items submitted to fulfill course requirements. If you are an instructor, we store course content, which may contain data about you.
Data about your accounts on other services: We may obtain certain information through your social media or other online accounts if they are connected to your Vets Pharma account. If you log in to Vets Pharma through Facebook or another third-party platform or service, we will ask your permission to access certain information about that other account. For example, depending on the platform or service, we may collect the user’s name, profile picture, account ID number, login email address, location, physical location of access devices, gender, birthday, and list of friends or contacts. These platforms or services make this information available to us through their APIs. The information we receive depends on the information you (through your privacy settings) or the platform or service chooses to provide to us. If you access or use our Services through a third-party platform or service, or if you click on any third-party links, the collection, use, and sharing of your data will also be subject to the privacy notice and other agreements of those third parties.
Sweepstakes, Promotions, and Surveys: We may invite you to take a survey or participate in a promotion (such as a contest, sweepstakes, or challenge), either through the Services or a third-party platform. If you participate, we will collect and store the data you provide as part of your participation, such as your name, email address, postal address, date of birth, or phone number. Such data will be subject to this privacy notice, unless otherwise stated in the official rules of the promotion or another privacy notice. The data collected will be used to administer the promotion or survey, including to notify winners and distribute rewards. To receive a reward, you may be required to allow us to post some of your information publicly (such as on a winner’s page). When we use a third-party platform to administer a survey or promotion, that third party’s privacy notice will apply. Communications and Support: If you contact us for support or to report a problem or concern (regardless of whether you have created an account), we will collect and store your contact information, messages, and other data about you, such as your name, email address, messages, location, Vets Pharma user ID, refund transaction ID, and any other data you provide to us or that we collect through automated means (discussed below). Intellectual Property Policy
Vets Pharma is a technology platform that allows anyone to take educational courses anywhere in the world. We host courses on our online learning platform. Our virtual store model means we don’t review or edit courses for legal reasons.
Infringing activity is not tolerated on or through our platform.
This notice addresses what we do in the event of copyright infringement by content owners and in the event of trademark infringement claims by brand owners regarding courses offered on the Vets Pharma platform. The policy also addresses what we do when Vets Pharma instructor courses are copied on third-party platforms without their consent.
Reporting third-party copyright infringement
It is Vets Pharma’s policy to remove courses from our service when they are reported to be infringing in a copyright infringement notice received from the original content owner. We reserve the right to terminate a student’s account at any time, including when the student posts content that infringes the intellectual property of others.
How to file a complaint
If you wish to report a course found on the Vets Pharma platform, and you are the owner, or the designated agent of the owner, of the rights to the content you believe the course infringes,
Before submitting a notice of intellectual property infringement, please remember these important points:
- Your notice of copyright infringement must be sufficiently substantiated to enable us to address it.
- You must provide us with sufficient information so that we can contact you, including your full legal name, an email address, a physical address, and a telephone number (optional).
- If you are filing a complaint on behalf of an organization, you must include the name of the organization and your relationship to it.
- You must accurately identify the original copyrighted material, or if multiple copyrighted works are included in your notice, you must provide a sufficiently representative list of such original material (e.g., a URL where the material is located);
- You must provide sufficient information for us to locate the allegedly infringing course(s) located on the Vets Pharma website (the URL on our website and the exact name of the course);
- You must add a statement that says: “I declare, under penalty of perjury, that the information in this claim is accurate and that I am the intellectual property owner or authorized to act on behalf of the intellectual property owner, and I have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the intellectual property owner, its agent, or the law.”
- Knowingly submitting a false or misleading infringement claim is unlawful, and you may be held liable and required to pay damages as a result. Vets Pharma reserves the right to seek damages from anyone who files an infringement notice that violates the law.
- Consider whether the course’s use of your material is a “fair use.” Some copyright laws include a “fair use” exception for certain uses of content deemed to be in the public interest. Fair use covers things like criticism, commentary, news reporting, and research. When considering whether a course’s use of your material qualifies as a fair use, you should consider:
- The purpose of the use (whether the course is paid or unpaid, whether the course criticizes, parodies, or transforms your material);:
- The type of intellectual property-protected work being used (whether your work is factual or creative);
- The portion being used (whether the course uses small, necessary excerpts from your material or substantial portions of it);
- The effect on the market for your material (whether potential buyers would purchase the course instead of your material).
Before submitting a copyright infringement notice, make sure that the use of the copied content in the course does not qualify as fair use.
Counter-notification
To be effective, a counter-notification must be in writing and must include the following information:
- Your physical or electronic signature;
- Your name, physical address, and email address or telephone number;
- Identification of the course that was removed and the location (URL) where it appeared before it was removed (you can access this information in the copyright infringement report filed against your course; we always attach a copy when we notify you);
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification of the material to be removed or disabled; and
- A statement that you consent to (i) Vets Pharma sharing your name and contact information with the complaining party; (ii) receiving service of process in any legal action from the complainant or an agent of the complainant; and (ii) consenting to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district in which you reside.
Intentionally submitting a false or misleading counter-notification is unlawful, and you may be held liable and required to pay damages as a result.
Vets Pharma reserves the right to seek damages from any party who files a counter-notification of copyright infringement that violates the law.
Reporting Third-Party Trademark Infringement
Vets Pharma’s policy is to remove courses from our service when reported to infringe a third-party trademark. We also reserve the right to terminate an instructor’s account at any time, including when the instructor posts content that infringes a third-party’s trademark rights.
